The readers are welcome to this presentation, in which we report some of the acts perpetrated by the Syrian regime which, as usual, masks deceit with virtue, treachery with loyalty, contemptible objectives with disinterest, and private interests with national interests. This regime is behind the assault committed in broad daylight, whereby humans encroach on the rights of their fellows. Thus, they break into their homes, violate their privacy, and destroy their belongings. At the same time, they take up arms in the right hand while they wave the flag held in the left hand. They also turn the back to morality and to the principles of decent conduct, in addition to disdaining all human values. And of course, these practices go unchecked.
This would not have happened had the rule of law prevailed and had there been a fair judiciary in our country. This only happens in dark forests inhabited by savage monsters and that humans do not set foot in. This only happens under abnormal conditions whereby the illiterate are nominated Imams, and the pictures are turned upside down so that shoes take the place of heads.
I say in anticipation that it is now easy for the indifferent, who are too many in my country, to run away to evade giving careful consideration to the following discussion and to evade giving it deep thought. This one slinks away, whereas that one turns his head, and the third considers that he is not concerned with other people’s business.
It is equally easy for those who disagree with us, whether their number is large or small, to mock us and express their delight. This one gloats over our disappointment, while a second one satisfies his thirst for revenge, and a third one feeds his evening chat with our stories in a full moon night!!
Even if we are now denying a false accusation leveled against us by impudent people, and even if we are monitoring one of the assaults made by the outlaws on us, yet, we do not exert ourselves to provoke compassion, or in hope of arousing pity, not even patting on the shoulders. We ask God that no one be offended for our sake.
We have the evidence of our innocence, as we have the irrefutable proof to condemn the others. All we aspire to now, is to have everybody witness abuse bounce to abusers, and to have our people closely see the disgrace in our beloved Syria and the calamity striking its people. Then, it can be said that if falsehood manifests itself for some time, righteousness is everlasting.
We even exert ourselves out of pity for our pillaged nation and our people who have developed a sense of alienation in their homeland. We exert ourselves to inquire about the causes that have led our people to the present state of surrender to the monsters’ laws, and to discuss the causes that have made the nation fall prey to a gang of thieves. Consequently, the efforts made by Ibrahim Hanano, Saleh Al-Ali, Sultan Basha Al-Atrash, Hassan Al-Kharrat, and Zaki Al-Arsouzi have been wasted... Even the entire nation has been lost!!
We tell everybody, each person who likes our beloved Syria: whether we like it or not, we are all concerned and responsible for the absence of the rule of law, the distortion of morals, and the compromise of values. We are all responsible for the lack of efficient means and the lack of determination, the advance of selfishness, and the backwardness of the nation. We are responsible for the lack of human values and of citizenship. Had we all been used to fighting against oppression affecting our fellows, the anomaly would not have existed, the process would not have been reversed, and we would not have reached the present state of cleavages and underdevelopment.
We are not asking you to stage a revolution, nor are we calling on you to practice disobedience or even a sit-in. We are rather going to adopt a mild approach with you.
But allow us reproaching and yelling from time to time. We will use the reproach to deter the robbers who have pillaged our country, and yelling to raise the awareness of our fellows who have gone into a state of heedlessness for forty years... only to ask them if the salvation plan of this nation has ever invaded their dreams, or if it has not yet!!!
